When a student makes a booking, they will enter all of their details and pay a holding deposit to secure their room. This holding deposit is set by you and can be up to the equivalent of three weeks worth of rent. We believe this is a fair and accessible upfront cost for students to secure a room and is in line with government legislation.
Once you’ve received a booking, we’ll update your inventory availability immediately and send you an email with a summary of the booking so you don’t miss it.
You’ll be able to find the booking information and tenants’ details in the Housemates Occupy dashboard.
From the day a booking is made, the student enters a 14-day cooling-off period. During this time the holding deposit will be held by our payment processor, Stripe. Once the cooling-off period ends, Stripe will forward the holding deposit directly into your nominated bank account(s).
