If you choose to pay rent for your accommodation in instalments, you will need to provide a guarantor based in the country of that accommodation who can pay your rent if you fail to do so.
Usually, the guarantor will need to be over 18 and in full-time employment, earning enough to cover your rent payments. Each accommodation provider may have other specific requirements about the guarantors they accept.
If you can’t provide a guarantor, there are a number of guarantor services available to help with this for a fee, but watch out for unfairly high prices.
To help you out, we’ve partnered with the UK’s biggest and the only award-winning rent guarantor service, Housing Hand.
